SparkPoint Updates #13: October 2020
Another eventful month! We endured two strong typhoons in a row. The first one, typhoon Quinta (Molave) caused major damages and 3–5 days of blackout in most parts of our province. Most of us haven’t even recovered yet when typhoon Rolly (Goni) arrived just a week after. Rolly was a super typhoon and considered the strongest storm this year.
We’re still on a widespread blackout in our region 3 days after the storm hit and we’re looking at a 1–2 month restoration period. Many houses and underlying infrastructure were destroyed. A number of people are still unaccounted for and some have perished. Our hearts go out to our fellow Bicolanos and those affected during this trying time.
Still, we prevailed. We’ve met all our targets in October. Let’s highlight eight of them in this post.
1. SparkPoint Turned 2!
We celebrated our second anniversary last Oct 5. We’ve survived and thrived for 2 years now on very limited resources. From the many small wins and successes that we’ve had, I’d say our biggest achievement is creating a productive and tenacious team from scratch.
2. MOU with SILI DELI Technology Business Incubation
We’ve signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with SILI-DELI and Bicol University for the Technology Business Incubation Program of the Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Council for Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEERD).
Through this partnership, SparkPoint gains access to an office space, mentorship, network of investors, and government support. Our team will leverage this opportunity to deliver our 2020–2021 goals particularly our SparkDeFi platform.
3. SparkDeFi Roadmap and Website Official Launch
We’ve launched our SparkDeFi website and Roadmap on srk.finance. Learn more about what SparkDeFi is, its features including Staking, P2P Lending, Crypto Assets Management, DEX, and its SFUEL governance token.

4. SparkDeFi Web App Preview
We’ve launched an early preview of what the SparkDeFi web app will look like when it’s launched. This serves a dual purpose. First, it gives our developers a good reference of what needs to be implemented. It also gives our users an idea on what to expect from SparkDeFi.

5. SFUEL Private Sale
We’ve launched a private sale of our SparkDeFi governance token, SFUEL. So far we’ve raised $330,000+ worth of ETH, USDT, and SRK tokens. Our target is $850,000 by November 15, 2020. Unsold tokens will be burned.
The private sale is still ongoing until November 15, 2020. You can still sign up to be whitelisted here.
Most of the funding, around 85% will be used for product development and operations and marketing. The rest will be used for liquidity provision, legal, auditing, and compliance.
6. AMAs with CEO and CTO
We’ve had two AMA sessions with two great crypto communities on Telegram. The first AMA with BitMart and the next one with Satoshi Club. Watch out for a recap of the most interesting questions and answers in another Medium next week.
7. DeFi 101 SparkLearn Course
We’ve launched our third exclusive course on SparkLearn, DeFi 101, made by our very own Melissa Mesias. Melissa was able to bring her experience as a University instructor and adapted it to fit SparkLearn. Watch out for more exclusive courses soon!
8. SparkDeFi Staking Web App on Ropsten
And for our final update for October, we’ve launched SparkDeFi Staking Web App on Ropsten testnet a day before the super typhoon hit. We’re now continuously testing and improving the web app to get it ready for its mainnet launch this month. SRK holders will have the opportunity to add liquidity on Uniswap and earn more SRK from their liquidity provider tokens.

Our availability is currently limited by the lack of electricity and stable internet connection but we’re still looking to deliver significant updates this November including the mainnet launch of SparkDeFi Staking.
