November was an exciting month for us, as we reached out to more people about the Blockchain and its potential. There were lots of IRL events that made us busy, but this means the Blockchain is gaining more traction here in the Philippines and particularly in the local, Bicol Region. SparkPoint team made sure not to miss the major events and be part of something revolutionary by supporting various events dedicated to boost awareness and educate more web2 people.

Now, let’s have a recap of everything that happened last November.

TL;DR

1. Bringing SparkTech closer to the Web3 Community

We’re bringing SparkTech close to the Web3 Community! SparkPoint’s QA Lead joined the Bitcoin, Beer and Bitstories event to represent SparkPoint and introduce SparkTech and its building processes.

Bitcoin, Beer and Bitstories is a monthly Web3 community meetup wherein various Web3 project representatives get the chance to pitch their initiatives and goals. And we believe that an event like BBB is a great avenue for us to share what SparkTech offers. SparkTech is the newest service under SparkPoint Ecosystem that will cater to the needs of other startup companies or projects who would want to level up their business to venture in Web3 space.

The community meetup program has two parts, the Panel discussions and project pitch sessions.

2. CEO Andy shared his knowledge in blockchain with ADNU students

While other members get busy outside Bicol, our CEO, Andy Agnas continues to educate the students in the local region as he visited the Ateneo de Naga University to share his knowledge in Blockchain.

The program he attended is an exclusive event for the graduating students of ADNU College of Business and Accountancy.

3. Bicol Blockchain Conference 2022

The Bicol Blockchain Conference (BBC) 2022 is one of the biggest achievements for the month of November! With the combined efforts of the organizers: Ownly, SparkPoint, SparkLearn EdTech and MetaGaming Guild, the event became a noteworthy and successful event! Huge thanks also to Department of Trade and Industry Region V, for making this one possible through their support.

BBC is the largest gathering for Blockchain enthusiast, crypto curious, influencers and experts in the south of the Metro. A one-day event that took place at Alicia Hotel, Legazpi City last November 14. There have been distinguished speakers, and each one has combined their proficiency in blockchain technology, Web3, and metaverse to create a specific field of knowledge which helped the audience in their areas of interest. The participants totalled to more than 150 participants.

The conference’ line up of speakers was also a powerhouse! Andy Agnas, CEO & Founder of Sparkpoint, Michael Mislos, the Editor-in-Chief of BitPinas, Melissa Mesias, the Co-Founder and CEO of SparkLearn EdTech, Gail Cruz Macapagal, Country Director of DynaQuest and Founder of Women in Blockchain were part of the lineup. Morris Perico, the COO of MetaGaming Guild. Filipay/Filipcoin Founder and CEO, Janice Ariño and Atty. Enrique V. Dela Cruz, Jr., a Senior Partner DivinaLaw also joined as speakers. Harvey Javier, CTO of SparkLearn EdTech, Ismael Jerusalem, CEO and Founder of Ownly, and Denley Mirabueno, were also one of the speakers.

4. Today with #SparkyCommunity Live Series EP6: Developers in the flesh!

It’s the first livetsream episode ever with our developers! The hardworking team behind the SparkSwap. The episode titled “Developers in the flesh” aired last November 4, 2022 instead on October 31, 2022.

During the session, our developers shared what they have been up to recently. They’ve mentioned what are their roles in the SparkSwap Development, and an overview on what to expect in the next coming months! The team also wanted to show up to the community, be heard and entertain some of their questions.

It’s been a tough season for everyone in the space, and they believe doing something new to connect more with the community is one thing that they should do more often and show we are real people working behind the project no matter what.

5. SparkPoint forged a new partnership with Web3 Philippines

We are happy to have partnered with Web3 Philippines, the first and primary Web3 tech and non-tech builder community in the country! We are establishing this collaboration to bring activities, events, and contents that will further intensify and support our common mission — to raise awareness about Blockchain and Web3, its use-cases and build a product-ecosystems that will provide meaningful benefits for everyone, especially for Filipinos.

6. Meeting the Kabatak and Sparkies in one stream!

To start with the partnership, the Sparkies met Kabataks, the community of Web3 Philippines through a livestream hosted by our CMO, Drei Bongalos.

In this session, the founders Kristian and Zab told stories of their individual journeys, their efforts and how a web3 community like theirs came into reality.

7. Sparkies at the Philippine Web3 Festival 2022

After the busy days of the Bicol Blockchain Conference, the Sparkies travelled to BGC Taguig City to attend one of the most anticipated web3 events of the month, the PHWEB3 Festival 2022! This Web3 event is a week-long conference and celebration of Blockchain gaming NFT, Esports, DeFi, Crypto, and more. Organized by BlockchainSpace and YGG Philippines.

It started on November 14 and concluded last November18, 2022 at the Marquis Events Place, located in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City, Metro Manila, Philippines.

The first day of Sparkies was spent in the main events hall, to attend the official activities like panel discussions of PHWeb3 Fest.

This is the look inside the Marquis Events Place where all main events like panel discussions took place.

Alongside the main conference events, lots of side-events were also hosted by various partner projects, and it happened simultaneously around the whole BGC, Taguig and Makati City.

To name some, Sparkies actively participated as the community partner for the Tezos Web3 Developer Workshop at the Draper Startup House Manila, where our developers had the chance to introduce SparkPoint and participate in the workshop to explore more of Tezos Network.

The BULL or BEAR Web3 Debate presented by Bitskwela, Gcash and PHWeb3 Festival was also an official side-event, our SMS Shane Sarza attended the said event to show support and learn from different perspectives of the debaters.

Meanwhile JA Balbin participated in the exclusive Binance Community Meetup at the F1 Manila Hotel. He met Kenneth Stern, the General Manager for Binance PH and Rachel Ma, the Community Manager of BNB Chain. Of course, the Binance local community here in the Philippines.

Lastly, the team actively joined in the last official event for PHWeb3 Fest in Taguig, the Web3 Synergy Party, where a series of fireside chats and discussions continued to spark new ideas and meet web3 founders, KOLS, and enthusiasts in a more exclusive way.

Every day was full of learnings, and opportunities to connect with the founders, leaders and enthusiasts coming from different places around the globe.

8. SparkPoint as one of the PH Blockchain Week Community Partners

Down to the last major event we participated to, the PH Blockchain Week! And we joined as one of the official community partners of the event, represented by our very own CMO, Drei Bongalos.

PH Blockchain Week is also a week-long event and started last November 28, 2022, at the Newport World Resorts, Manila formed by Philippine Blockchain Technology Inc. An organization dedicated to connecting businesses and agencies with the insights, trends, and technologies they need to thrive in the global Web 3 space.

The event gathered the international speakers, and conducted curated talks for newbies and experts, NFT expos, gaming tournaments, and exclusive networking opportunities!

Philippine Blockchain Week was kicked off with BLOCK X The Welcome Night event where the convenors welcomed all the guests. DITO Telecommunity COO and Lead Convenor, Donald Lim stated during the opening program that the council (Philippine Blockchain Technology Inc.) will push for the Philippines to become the Blockchain hub of Southeast Asia.
