Web3 Meet Ups slated this week in Bicol Region’s key cities, Naga and Legazpi
SparkPoint, Blockchain Space and affiliate companies band together for this week’s Web3 gatherings.
It’s Web3 weekend in Bicol Region as SparkPoint Technologies, together with affiliates make a trip to Bicol’s key cities to organize and conduct Web3 meet ups this weekend! BlockchainSpace will also be the headline organizer from Metro Manila, together with the local blockchain technology startups Ownly, SparkLearn EdTech and MetaGaming Guild, hailing from the same region of the venues.
Months in the making, the Bicol-leg of Web3 meet ups are finally happening as local tech communities anticipate for web3-related events in the region since the pandemic-related restrictions started to ease down earlier this year and various events and traditional scenes make their return to the calendars and streets of major cities in the region.

Bicol Web3 Meet Up in Naga City
The first leg of the Bicol Web3 Meet Up will happen this Friday, August 26, 2022, at The Avenue Plaza Hotel in Naga City, Camarines Sur — a famous hotspot and the venue for major conventions and conferences in the city, just along the bustling Magsaysay Avenue. Magsaysay Avenue in Naga is famous for its commerce-dense area and gimikan (a go-to place for nightlife events and festivals).
In general, Naga City is dubbed as a “Pilgrim City” for its part in the biggest Marian devotion in the country and in Southeast Asia, and also known as the Heart of Bicol for being the regional center of commerce and trade, culture, and religion.

Bicol Web3 Meet Up: BUILDr Dinner
After the events in Naga, the entire organizing team will proceed to the picturesque Legazpi City in Albay for the BUILDr Dinner. A 2-hour trip from Naga, you can get a glimpse of the world-renowned, perfectly cone-shape Mayon Volcano, the literal backdrop for the Web3 meet up in Legazpi City.
It’s the defacto symbol of Bicol Region on the tourism scene as the volcano’s majestic beauty can be seen anywhere in Legazpi, nearby towns and provinces. As much as its beauty capture anyone’s heart, the volcano’s grandiosity conceals its status as the most active volcano in the Philippines with some notable eruptions in 2018 and in the far past. Regardless, SparkPoint and the local organizing teams are surely proud of Mayon as their muse for the attendees!
The BUILDr Dinner on August 27, 2022, is an event exclusive for the developers and startup community of Albay and nearby areas. The venue will be at Casa Lorenzo Food and Culture, a well-known, culture-rich restaurant in Albay that offers regional and heirloom cuisine, with the place featuring the traditional Filipino architecture that will take you back to the Spanish colonial era of our country. It will be a night of table discussions, introductions, and presentations about the current Web3 trends, and of course, wine!
The events were also supported by big projects from Metro Manila like PDAX and Internet Computer Manila.
Opportunities at IRL Events
The series of Web3 meetups marks the start of blockchain-related activities in the region as more events will fill the calendars of Bicol’s tech community starting September to November. With the flourishing local tech industry in the region, and with startups, projects and companies already starting to venture into the world of blockchain, the series of community meet ups are perfectly timed to be an avenue for everyone in the local industry to discover promising startup and projects, to join hands for partnerships and collaboration, to be affiliated, and be exposed to new learnings as projects introduce their projects in a more intimate setup, by meeting and organizing in-real-life (IRL) events.
Events like this will contribute to the growth of the young tech-Web3 industry in the region and the supporting communities behind it. Since these events are mostly attended by representatives of crypto-based projects, NFT-based ones — with the growing population of artists onboarding Web3 for their creative outputs, and gaming guilds — which boosted the country’s Web3 adoption through play-to-own, play-to-earn (P2E) and game-financing (GameFi), this will be a great opportunity for the neophytes or any individual who wants to be immersed in blockchain, learn and be educated, integrate and take advantage of blockchain technology’s beneficial use cases. These community meetups also boost the relationship between projects, open doors for innovative ideas and collaboration, and the end-users or clients that these projects cater to. There will be more opportunities for everyone in the Web3 community than ever, especially in Bicol Region.

There’s an upcoming art convention this October 8–9, 2022, at Legazpi City, the Albay Multimedia Arts Convention (AMAC) 2022 organized by Ownly together with the local art community and partners, of which will be graced by NFT artist and creatives, and personae in the local and national art scene.
