Twitter Surrenders War on Bots

Allows Users to Choose Amount of Followers

Twitter has long been fighting bots on their platform, and decided to stop all efforts to clean the website of fake accounts yesterday. Twitter announced their surrender in a blog post that also told how users can now choose how many followers their follower count displays, eliminating the need for bots and fake accounts.

Followers can easily be chosen while editing your Twitter profile. “There is a limit to how many followers you can have,” says Twitter spokesperson Alison Stokes, “But it’s high enough that it shouldn’t be a problem.”

Twitter has yet to receive complaints from users about this feature. “I don’t think there’s anything to hate about it,” says Stokes.
