New Ethanol Blending Rules only the Latest Ontario Scandal

The province that won’t stop taking from the poor to give to the rich is at it again. Using their tool of choice, environmentalism, the Ontario Liberals are increasing ethanol blending to 10% in a decision that’s great for big business, and costly for everyone else. The move will have a negligible environmental impact, optimally reducing GHG emissions by about $8 million.

So why do it? Corruption of course! The major beneficiary of the changed rules will be IGPC Ethanol Inc., an ethanol producer in Ontario headed by president Jim Gray, who is also the chair of the lobby group Renewable Industry Canada, who are the ones pushing for the change in the first place.

Once again, our democratic government, elected to serve the population, are allowing lobby groups to dictate policy. This latest change does virtually nothing for the environment, and the production processes for the ethanol will negate any slight advantage that may be had. This is pure corruption at it’s most manipulative, unfortunately for Ontario, it’s also just par for the course.
