In today’s age, we are consuming more content than ever before. When humanity began, we were seeing, smelling, touching, hearing and tasting wholesome animals, nature and man made items. This has now evolved into televisions, machines and tiny screens that tremendously facilitate our lives. Those little screens we call phones can contain anything; from pictures, sounds, videos and even instant communication. I wonder if this reality was even in the realm of possibility of those before us. This constant access to specific information is a blessing that is currently overlooked by most.

In the past, there was little to no need to be conscious of what your mind programmed. What our brains consumed was limited by our environment and our imagination. When we transcended that way of life, the powers that be and the scarcity of content inventory stopped us from obtaining information that would empower us. However, today we can curate what we want to consume by typing the right words into a search bar.

PARADIGMS

There are many definitions for paradigms. Covey, from Seven Habits of Highly Successful people, refers to paradigms as a personal belief map. (I’m paraphrasing, i don’t know where the fuck that book went) Bob Proctor defines it as a multitude of habits that live in your subconscious mind. I believe it’s a combination of both.

A professor from Texas A&M uses a great metaphor to explain it: I like to compare our paradigms to the lenses in our glasses. What we see isn’t a completely accurate reflection of reality, it is shaped by our attitudes and perceptions. Paradigms are natural and inevitable, and they are useful to us in many ways. However, sometimes our paradigms become so far removed from reality that they become dysfunctional.

Paradigms are the subconscious map from which we operate. A lot of the paradigms we are currently operating from ARE NOT EVEN OURS. They’re the compiled result of our personal environment, our family traditions, our culture and our society as a whole.

PARADIGM SHIFT(S)

A “paradigm shift” happens when our subconscious beliefs change. This allows us to see the world in a new light. Sometimes this happens in a flash and sometimes it happens gradually. Below is the process I use to systematically delete beliefs that are no longer serving me and replace them with new ones.

SHIFTING YOUR PARADIGM(S)

make sure you are not pressed for time, have access to the internet, a pen and a notebook.

STEP ONE: EVALUATE THE PARADIGM/PROGRAM

As an example, we’ll use the paradigm of self care. This paradigm is about the way we treat ourselves physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. As you already know, a lot of our actions and behaviors are automated. The first things we do in the morning have been the same forever. You wake up, brush your teeth, wash your face. It’s second nature. The types of things we have for breakfast are also programmed by our environment and our society. This leaves us with positive feelings about certain foods, products and activities that are ultimately destructive to our well being.

Ex: Pancakes still remind me of my mom cooking brunch for my whole family, having fun with my cousins and enjoying a lazy Sunday. In reality, pancakes have nothing to do with any of those feelings and I could have the same (or an even better) experience without them.

Pick an element in your life that is stagnant or that hasn’t changed for as long as you can remember.

Example: You wake up one morning and as you’re brushing your teeth you realize that you (or your parents) always buy the same tube of toothpaste.

  1. ASK YOURSELF WHY?
  2. RESEARCH DIFFERENT TOOTHPASTES AND THEIR EFFECTS
  3. UNDERSTAND HOW THIS CHOICE HAD ESCAPED YOU + HOW NOT BEING AWARE OF THE DECISION YOU WERE MAKING AFFECTS YOU

STEP TWO: LOCATE THE BUGS/GLITCHES IN YOUR PROGRAM

Once you’ve evaluated the playing field. You’ll know exactly where your subconscious was steering you wrong. You can use the answers to the questions above to find the bug in your subconscious that allowed you to remain unaware of the harm you were causing yourself.

Example: I continued to use the same toothpaste for years without knowing the effects of fluoride because it was always in my environment. I saw it in my bathroom, in the stores, in other people’s homes and never questioned it. Until I stumbled across the pineal gland and the destructive effects fluoride has on it.

  1. FIND AN IMMEDIATE ALTERNATIVE (P.S: I USE JASON’S TEA TREE IT’S FIRE!)
  2. FIND OTHERS WHO HAVE BEEN THROUGH SOMETHING SIMILAR + TALK
  3. CHOOSE AND COMMIT TO GETTING RID OF THE OLD HABIT/THING

STEP THREE: CREATE A SOFTWARE UPDATE

Using toothpaste with fluoride in it is not a stand alone issue. Your mouthwash is probably also toxic, so is your face-wash. Although, you probably didn’t notice just like you didn’t notice how toxic your toothpaste was.

Next step:

Create a POSITIVE affirmation that encompasses the ailment you targeted in step one AND will help you get rid of other subconscious leeches that you are not aware of yet.

Example: I only use products that are beneficial to my physical, spiritual and light body.

STEP FOUR: UPLOAD IT TO YOUR SUBCONSCIOUS

Say the affirmation you created (above) out loud at least 3 times a day for 30 days to implement that message into your subconscious.

That’s it.

I hope this helped you and you were able to uncover a pattern in your subconscious that you now have the power to delete and replace. However, you must remember that the content you consume has great influence over your paradigms and can shift your subconscious without your permission. That’s something for another time though. Hope you enjoyed reading this!
