What’s an Orr-eEEe-oOoOoo?
Easy! An Oreo is a the most popular manufactured biscuit in the entire world.

It’s usually a vanilla sweet creme filled, round sandwich cookie consisting of two (traditionally) chocolate wafers.

Many have said, they’re simple, delicious and best served with cold milk.

Once upon a time (in 1912, to be exact) New York was rapidly changing as many progressive technological advances left the world craving a delicious snack.

To solve this issue, the World’s best selling cookie was created in a quiet Manhattan factory.

“Not only is Oreo the best selling cookie in the world with over $2 billion in annual sales, but it has increased its parent company Mondelez’s net revenue by 2.1%”. Source.

The “Oreo Biscuit” was birthed from the National Biscuit Company (currently known as, Nabisco).

The first Oreo was sold on March 6, 1912, to a grocer in Hoboken, New Jersey; which means March 6 everyone needs an OREO BIRTHDAY CAKE or OREO BIRTHDAY CAKE COOKIES!

Fun Fact;

Oreos are made without hurting animals, which was a positive change that cost a lot of money! (Way to make a positive impact on the planet, Nabisco!)

Oreo cookies were made with lard until the mid-1990s, when Nabisco swapped the animal fat with partially hydrogenated vegetable oil due to growing health concerns. (Later, in 2006, the company switched to non-hydrogenated vegetable oil.) In 1997, Nabisco also earned kosher certification — a process that took over three years. “It was probably the most expensive conversion of a company from non-kosher to kosher,” said Cornell professor Joe Regenstein, who served as an “informal consultant” to Nabisco during the transition. According to Regenstein, Nabisco had about 100 ovens spanning the length of a football field, and each needed to be cleaned by a rabbi wielding a blowtorch. Furthermore, every oven needed a replacement belt at the cost of $150,000 each!Source.

Healthy, Happy Habits!

If you’re anything like me, you’re the sweet, but somewhat, chunky creme stuck in between those delightful wafers.

While GIVE Nation definitely supports healthy diets and active lifestyles, we also relish in the enchantment brought to a eyes of a child when their favorite delicacy is placed in their perfect little palms.
