Beacon Welcomes CBD Boutique with Open Arms
The use of hemp and CBD products are on the rise in Beacon, NY with the uprising of the cannabis friendly hemp boutique The Leaf NY that offers a wide-range of products specializing in CBD for those aged 21 and up.
The Leaf was founded in 2019 by owner Grant McCabe and his team consists of family and friends who locally grow hemp in the Hudson Valley and have over 25 years of experience in the cannabis industry. Although, there can sometimes be a blurred line in the public realm between marijuana and hemp.
“All products at The Leaf are derived from hemp. Hemp is the cannabis plant, but what makes it different from marijuana is its lower concentration of Delta-9 THC. Under state regulation, all of our products must be below .3% delta-9 THC. Anything that is above .3% delta-9 THC is considered marijuana,” said McCabe.
With the lower percentage of THC in the products that The Leaf offers, the affects of using CBD products will not cause paranoia that is commonly associated with cannabis use, and instead it is commonly used for its anti-inflammatory and calming benefits. McCabe also mentioned that CBD can be tailored to people’s specific health situations and their overall physical and mental wellness.
Marijuana products often have a negative connotation attached to its uses but in Beacon, the public was interested to learn more about the products McCabe and his team had to offer.
“In the beginning, it was just a confusion of if the products we offered were legal. This was due to hemp just recently being federally legalized and people were having trouble distinguishing high THC products from low THC products. We worked with the police of Beacon for about a month to educate more about the plant, and we were solidified once we were approved for our NYS Hemp Growers License. The Leaf NY has a great relationship with local officials and police, and we are lucky to be a part of Beacon’s main strip.”
The Leaf is actively doing its part to educate and correct the misconceptions about hemp within the Beacon community to share the positive benefits of hemp products and to offer high-end, organic and hemp-derived products to the people of Beacon.
The Leaf offers products such as liquid gummies, jells, candy, tinctures, pre-roll joints, teas and even bath and body products such as body soaps and muscle creams. McCabe and his team sample every product they produce to ensure quality. All walks of life can be seen browsing for hemp products in McCabe’s hemp haven, but the average age group are people between 30–50 years old.
