At DC Sports, you can get a little bit of everything.

With locations in Poughkeepsie and Wappingers Falls, owner Dan Pizzarelli has kept citizens of the Hudson Valley active for the past six years. Whether it is indoor golf, mini golf, beach volleyball, bumper boats or the arcade, DC Sports has got it covered.

A go-to spot for golfers in the Hudson Valley, DC Indoor Golf provides a facility where swings can be perfected in the off-season. Open from October to March, the complex is equipped with eight PGA Tour simulators. Since people may need practice with driving or putting, golfers can choose from over 60 unique courses. Players also have the choice of playing 18 holes or going to the driving range, right in front of an interactive screen that tracks stats.

“Some people want to just hit balls and get some numbers, while other people want to play a course and play real golf,” Pizzarelli said. “So you’re going to bring your own clubs, and we can set you up and get moving.”

Pizzarelli has also gained the attention of local high school golf teams, including Our Lady of Lourdes, Ketcham, Spackenkill, John Jay and Arlington. This provides coaches with an opportunity to evaluate players and make swing adjustments when the weather prevents them from getting out on the course.

Adult leagues and non-profit tournaments have also been hosted at the facility. This winter, the Hyde Park Police Benevolent Association hosted a tournament with Hudson Valley police officers and firefighters. Mental Health America of Dutchess County, located right around the corner from the in Poughkeepsie, also operated a fundraiser over the winter.

“I think it is a perfect facility for learning and teaching. Something before the season gets going to get swinging,” Pizzarelli added. “A lot of people go away in January and February, and want to get their swing going and warm back up before the season, so it is a perfect place for all that.”

As for Pizzarelli’s location in Wappingers Falls, it is a complex that incorporates more variety than just indoor golf. While there are five additional simulators there, the facility also has an 18-hole mini-golf course and beach volleyball courts for summer activities.

“We have sand volleyball leagues, an arcade and mini-golf. We also do birthday parties, so it has all kinds of stuff for people of all ages,” Pizzarelli said.

The volleyball leagues run in the spring once warmer weather arises. Pizzarelli has been able to accumulate teams quickly in recent years. “In year one, we had 85 people in the leagues; year two, we had 325. There is two sand volleyball courts lit with a tiki bar and decorations outside,” he said.

The atmosphere, variety and friendly staff are the aspects of DC Sports that have kept it unique and successful for over six years.
