Elizabeth Boutique on Collegeview Avenue sits right across the street from Vassar’s campus in Poughkeepsie. They offer high-end fashion to not only college students, but anyone in the area wanting to add some class to their look. Beth Masden, the boutique’s manager, says opening a small business was always a possibility for her: “When I was younger, I always wanted to open my own boutique. My father has owned Dutchess Overhead Doors for over 40 years, so it was always an option for me. His business is actually right up the street!”

Masden grew up in a small town outside of Poughkeepsie, but she came to “PoTown” quite a bit growing up. It only made sense to come downtown once she started a business of her own. When she first opened, her main goal was to put her unique stamp on the area: “I wanted to bring a very cool store to the neighborhood and provide women with a place to grab an outfit for the weekend or pick up core pieces for their wardrobe. I always admired shops in small towns that I visited on vacation and I wanted to have that here. I think small businesses bring so much to the community by creating a uniqueness unlike other towns. I feel that the real estate in the area can only do better with a vibrant shopping district nearby.”

Boots at Elizabeth Boutique

As for the latest fall fashions that Elizabeth Boutique provides, Masden had lots to say! Plaids are still going strong this fall season, as are chunky, oversized sweaters. Layering is always popular when the weather gets chilly, but the “Third Piece” is especially popular this season; this could be a vest, moto jacket, or bomber jacket. Details like vegan leather, suede, and added zippers can dress up any look, with classic colors like black and white, or more seasonal ones like rust, bordeaux, and olive. Thick leggings and distressed or raw edge denim are great for a more casual look, which can be capped off with some ankle boots, like the ones pictured above!

Sunglasses at Elizabeth Boutique

They not only sell great clothes at Elizabeth Boutique, but also fashion-forward accessories, like hats, sunglasses, scarves, and more! This boutique has plenty of style options for ladies in the Poughkeepsie area to update their fall look.
