The Hudson Valley region is known for its beautiful mountainous views and close community feel. During the Fall season many will gather in the area to pumpkin pick and eat apple cider doughnuts from local farms, in the Winter people will gather to ski and snowboard on local mountains, Spring in the Hudson Valley is the perfect time to plant flowers and attend garden shows and in the Summer? There is live music and outdoor festivals constantly.

With endless amounts of venues, the Hudson Valley has drawn music dwellers to the area for years. The area is especially lucky because there are events being posted and spread throughout social media all the time and once the Summer season approaches, peoples schedules free up and the more free time there is the more time you will have to take advantage of all the events the area has to offer.

Some events are weekly, some are free, some are annual and some are pricy. Regardless of your budget there is something for everyone. Most times these music events attract artsy people as well so a lot of times the events will appeal to various crowds.

“Music brings people together and it creates a sense of community and unity,” said Haleigh Levethan, local piano player.

Not only do famous people come to the Hudson Valley and play at various venues including the Bardavon in Poughkeepsie and the Dutchess County Fairgrounds but at smaller venues, up and coming local artists have the ability to play at open mics in various bars in any town.

If you visit the Town Crier in Beacon on the weekends there is always live music. This is a great weekend plan or date.

“I get nervous singing in front of people but when I’m with my band playing at local bars with people in my community I feel so inspired and loved. There is something about Hudson Valley talent that speaks volumes,” said Jack Lindros guitar player for a local band who has performed at the Town Crier many times.

The opportunities are endless when it comes to planning music outings in the Hudson Valley. Just to name a few here are some places you can get your music fix this summer! Not only will you have live music, you’ll get the chance to meet new people, celebrate a great community, eat some food and drink some beer and maybe discover music you never knew you liked.
