Pennings Farm Cidery re-opened for the spring season on April 10th, 2021.
With a new expanded menu and open taproom, guests are invited to enjoy the warm weather with a fresh hard cider in hand.

Jess Potash, the manager of Pennings Cidery, stated, “The cidery is now open for brick oven pizzas, and people have been coming to relax and enjoy the space that we have.”

All of the ciders are made with ingredients sourced from their apple, apricot, and peach orchards. Anything added to the ciders which are not “homegrown” is locally sourced from the Hudson Valley.

Like many business’s Pennings has updated its seating arrangements to allow guests to enjoy a socially distant day of drinking.

Jess explained, “I think the outdoor seating is actually what brings a lot of people in because we have a gorgeous hill, and we get amazing sunsets with an incredible view.”

Pennings Farm Cidery also has a taproom and indoor seating, which is socially distanced to ensure the safety of all guests. Additionally, there is further seating outside the taproom, which is close in proximity to the outdoor bar.

Jess reminisced on the days when guests were able to layout on blankets on the farm’s hill and enjoyed games while sipping cider. She stated, “With current COVID laws, everyone has to have their own seats — it is wild to think about how it has not been like that in so long.”

In the fall months, Pennings Farm Cidery saw an increase in guests who were traveling upstate to the Hudson Valley. Jess mentioned, “In a way, this was like a positive spin on COVID; people had the time to plan day trips — we got a lot more visitors from people who lived further away.”

Currently, hard cider tastings are now available for small groups, which are $20 per person, for those only over the age of 21. Tastings include six Pennings Cider samples, one Penning Apple vodka sample, the history regarding Penning farm and cidery, and a tour of the cider facilities.

Typically, in the winter months, Pennings Cidery is closed to focus on cider production. However, this year they have added an addition to the cider production area. This addition allows for more space where employees can press on-sight (with their own Pennings apples) while still having enough space for people to sit, eat and drink.

Jess stated, “Our goal is to stay open year-round next year.”

Cider season has just begun, and Pennings Cidery offers a great get-away day trip location for friends and families to enjoy the beautiful views of the Hudson Valley.

Jess stated, “It’s a destination where people can come and spend their entire day!”

Currently, guests can enjoy drinks outdoors, or in the Taproom!
