With the first snow just around the corner, holiday spirit is truly in the air. With celebrations occurring all throughout the Hudson Valley, there are plenty of reasons to start feeling festive.

This past weekend, Rhinebeck’s Sinterklaas Festival commenced the first of the gatherings. With a tremendous annual turnout, the traditional celebration commemorates Dutch settlers who arrived in Rhinebeck nearly 300 years ago. The ceremony is put on by the Hudson Valley Community Productions and is a non-denominational, all inclusive event, that re-creates “the story through the lens of modern-day America.”

Matt Stickle, owner of Stickle Variety Store in the heart of Rhinebeck, says, “We look forward to it every year. It’s a pretty magical, all-day celebration. The kids, adults — all ages enjoy it. We are glad to have it in our town!”
