The winery’s appeal to Tri-State tourists is boosted by its proximity to major metropolitan areas such as New York City, Philadelphia, and New Jersey. Linda Doherty from Queens, NY, said “I started coming to this [Millbrook] winery years ago, I heard about it from a friend and now I come every year. It’s the perfect getaway from the city.”

Within a short drive, people from these areas can escape the hustle and bustle of city life and find themselves in the tranquil vineyards, indulging in the simple pleasures of rural life. Jordan Yeomans from New Jersey, said “I love coming out here to the wineries. It’s definitely worth the drive on a beautiful day.”

For many visitors, a trip to the winery is more than just a wine-tasting excursion. It’s an opportunity to disconnect from the fast pace of urban living and enjoy nature. The winery offers a place for guests and locals to enjoy through a variety of events, including concerts, festivals, and culinary experiences.

Wineries contribute to the local economy in a multitude of ways. The influx of visitors to wineries in the Hudson Valley translates into increased spending at local businesses, including restaurants, shops, and attractions and hotels/accommodations in the surrounding area. As tourists from far and wide come to the wineries to immerse themselves in the beauty of the Hudson Valley, they often extend their stay resulting in local hotels benefitting from a surge in bookings and occupancy rates.

Dutchess County Tourism calls Millbrook Winery “The Hudson Valley’s flagship winery” bringing in the most tourists. This tourism spending generates revenue for the local hospitality sector and stimulates economic activity across various industries.
