With summer around the corner, new restaurants are looking to bring vibrant twists on global cuisine to the Hudson Valley.

Fortunately for the Poughkeepsie area, two long awaited restaurants are set to open in the coming months.

First to open is Baka Americana, a ramen bar which will be located at 264 North Road in the Town of Poughkeepsie, near K & D Deli.

Evidently, the menu will include a variety of ramen noodle dishes, as well as an assortment of bubble teas, a Taiwanese tea-based drink.

Owners Marisa and Zack Fisher, avid fans of ramen and bubble tea, noticed that there were minimal restaurants in the area offering their favorite cuisine.

As a result, Baka Americana has set a tentative opening for May 11.

In June, the Poughkeepsie area can also expect the opening of another restaurant, Frontera Tacos & Tequila.

Rodriguez hopes that Frontera Tacos & Tequila can provide a new fixture in the neighborhood, which he says is “very locally oriented.”

The menu will include classic Mexican dishes, such as tacos and quesadillas. It will also include twists on other dishes that aren’t specific Mexican cuisine.

One can also expect a variety of alcoholic beverages, including a vast selection of tequila based drinks.

This will be the third location in the Frontera chain. Currently, one is open in Connecticut, and another is open on Middletown.
