Bored of repetitious jog and gym visit? Looking for a new and fun way to motivate yourself to be active?

Well, you don’t have to look further, because Orange Theory is the new craze.

Located down South Road in Poughkeepsie, Orange Theory is a unique and more hard core workout for those looking to burn as many calories as possible in a short time span.

Poughkeepsie resident Anna Marotta heaps nothing but praise for this workout that she believes is the most effective way to train.

“I used to be a big runner — I jogged all over the city here, doing long distance, and I was also very big ‘gym rat’ doing everything from weight lifting, elliptical, bike, you name it. But doing all different forms of exercise and using multiple machines to target all different areas of my body just took up too much of my time. Being a graduate student, I really can’t do that.”

Being an active Orange Theory member the last two years, she says, has saved her much time, and has provided her with an even more productive and efficient way to reach her workout goals.

Why Orange Theory? “It is very personalized, I think that is the most important part of it all. It’s specialized to what is best for you — based off your height, your weight, and how hard or modified you want to go, your personal Orange Theory trainer will guide you towards the best workout for you.” In just one hour, Orange Theory gives you a comprehensive and high intensity workout, including running, lifting, rowing, and resistance in which you rotate all throughout your session.

Through the monitor that Orange Theory provides its members, you are able to track your heart rate during the workout, the rate you should reach, the calories you burned during, and how much more of the workout you have left. With all these factors in mind, you are given “splat points” — and these show your progress over all and your goal to get the optimal burn. “The magic number is 12 points, and if you hit that 12th point, then not only did you have a killer workout, but you will have optimal calorie burning, and your body will continue to burn up to 48 hours after you completed your workout,” explains Marotta. Knowing every detail and the specifics about you and your workout — mixed in with a trainer they provide — is what makes this a customized experienced.
