Poughkeepsie locals breathe a sigh of relief as the election comes to an end.

After 281 days of bickering, scandals, emails, complaining, Twitter wars and general unpleasantness, the 2016 Presidential election has come to a close. Yes we are all sad that Antonio Sabato, Jr. will no longer be a part of this election, and that we wont have to hear about how the system is rigged favoring one party over another. I for one will be sad, that late night TV will be a bit less funny now that today is the series finale of the 2016 election.

I took a ride to some polling stations around Poughkeepsie this afternoon to get a feel how the residents feel about this election coming an end.

“I am just glad that this Twilight Zone of an election is over,” said Robert Hanshawe of Poughkeepsie. “It’s going to be good to turn on the news now and not listen to these two clowns go after each other.”

“I voted for the lesser of two evils” said Kathy Larson. “I have always voted Republican but this year, the things that Donald Trump has said about women made me vote for Clinton. I am just glad that this madness ends today.”

“I have been around on this earth for 60 years, and I have not seen anything like this… ever, said Anthony Delvega. “We have two people that pretty much everyone hates for one reason or another. I usually can find something nice to say about each candidate, but this year I can’t find a single thing to say.”

“All I care about is that this insanity will be over in less then 24 hours,” said Allison Gallaghan.” I am just so tired of all the bullshit. What kind of example are we setting for future generations of Americans by letting Trump and Clinton run for office. I am so disappointed that it came to this, and that I had to vote for one of these fools.”

No matter what the outcome is tonight, one thing is for sure many citizens will be glad that this election over. I am sure they are looking forward to 2020 when we have Kayne West and Scott Baio running for president.
