Nestled along the scenic banks of the Hudson River, lies Hutton Brickyards Retreat. The retreat offers a sanctuary for those seeking relaxation, amazing food and locally sourced wine amidst the hustle and bustle of modern life (especially for those city-goers.) Within the Hutton Brickyard retreat lies their Edgewood restaurant which boasts gorgeous interior design and a delicious menu. This historic retreat calls to visitors with its serene ambiance, captivating natural beauty and rich history.

Originally established as a brick manufacturing facility in the 20th century, the Hutton Brickyards has undergone a remarkable transformation into a premier destination for relaxation and rejuvenation. At the beginning of the 20th century, brick manufacturing was one of the biggest industries on New York’s Hudson River. Having over 125 manufacturers employing upwards of 8,000 workers, the Hudson Valley was the largest brick-making region in the world. From 1865 to 1980, The Hutton Brick Works Company operated along the Hudson River, supplying essential building material for construction projects throughout the Hudson Valley and New York City which was the fastest-growing metropolis in the world. Today, Hutton Brickyards is a picturesque retreat that seamlessly blends its industrial past with contemporary elegance; creating a nature-filled environment that shines with history.

Throughout the year, guests can enjoy a variety of events and activities ranging from live music performances and art exhibitions to culinary experiences and wellness workshops. At the center of the retreat is the historic Ridgewood Manor Restaurant and Bar; the former home of John Cordts and his family. The Edgewood Manor’s brick entryway transcends you into a modern refuge filled with natural light. The natural oak bar is the perfect blend of vintage charm and contemporary style, with breathtaking views of the surrounding Hudson Valley to accompany it. While the architecture and views of the restaurant are stunning in itself, the cuisine is the real show stopper.

“The restaurants at Hutton Brickyards are seasonal.” says Hutton Brickyards director of marketing, Anne Hancock. Late October through April, guests can dine in the 1873 Ridgewood Manor with menus filled with delicious American Cuisine. As the weather warms up in May, guests can begin to enjoy the ‘open air’ River Pavilion Restaurant with sweeping views of the Hudson River. “The river pavilion bar creates carefully crafted cocktails that are inspired by the property and will be poured alongside American Cuisine and pizzas cooked in our wood-fire pizza oven.” Hancock further explains.

Not only can you casually dine at Hutton Brickyards restaurants but you can also join in on food and drink activities. The retreat hosts bi-weekly ‘Hutton Hangouts’ that are in partnerships with O+ and Queer Conspiracy. “This will continue through the summer as we move the event from Ridgewood Manner to River Pavilion and hopefully add in Prohibition talks with Hudson River Maritime museum,” says Hancock. The Ridgewood manor recently hosted a Valentine’s Day comedy show where guests could dine, sip and laugh at the Ridgewood Manor. The retreat hosted several comedians to entertain guests as they dined with their Valentine’s date; one comedian even dressed up in a costume, wearing horns and a long dress.

“The culinary experience at Hutton Brickyards Retreat was nothing short of extraordinary. Each dish was so good, and I can tell the ingredients are from the Hudson Valley. This was my first time dining here and the comedy show added such a fun aspect to my meal.” — Emily Gaddini, guest at Hutton Brickyards Retreat.
