The Biggest Election Story Yet

Dutchess County voters are stuck without stickers

It’s no secret that coverage of the election—and the election itself has been nothing short of ludicrous. There have been scandals upon scandals, outrageous statements, name calling and all sorts of controversy. But the worst of it all was saved for election day itself, and has nothing to do with the candidates (probably).

As it turns out, whether you voted for Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump, you definitely wanted a sticker. Well it seems as if many voters aren’t getting the one thing they had to look forward to this election season, and they are outraged. At Violet Avenue Elementary school, voters can be heard walking away from the booth wondering where their sticker was, and is even being talked about on Twitter (the biggest common denominator between the leading presidential candidates).

So where are these so coveted voting stickers? Those at Violet Avenue aren’t quite sure, but the Dutchess County Board of Elections said simply that it’s “not an obligation to give them out, it’s a courtesy.” The Board of Elections simply decided not to put them in all of the “poll bags” because it isn’t required of them to do so. As if this election year wasn’t stressful enough, the one thing everyone can agree on is the stickers, and they weren’t even awarded that. Out of all the Snapchat filters, and all of the Tweets and celebrity videos motivating us to get out there and vote, they couldn’t even give us the stickers to promote our amendment rights on all of our favorite social media websites.

They better fix this by 2020, or we may have a crisis on our hands.
