While September is not yet over, Breast Cancer awareness organizations like Miles of Hope and the American Cancer Society are already preparing for their walks and events across the Hudson Valley, making it easy for residents to raise awareness for the widespread disease. October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, and organizations, sports teams, and local businesses and schools typically participate by donating money, wearing pink for support, or participating in a number of charity events.

On Sunday October 1, Miles of Hope will host their annual Walk for Hope in the James Baird State Park in Pleasant Valley, NY. The walk starts at 9am.

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer will hold a walk at Woodbury Commons on October 15 starting at 9am.

On October 20, Miles of Hope will celebrate Miles of Hope Day, a day for breast cancer awareness, with participating schools and businesses. Multiple fundraisers will take place across the counties within the Hudson Valley.

Miles of Hope is a Hudson Valley based foundation that supports services and outreach to those affected by breast cancer in the eight counties within the Hudson Valley. Miles of Hope provides scholarships, a Medical Gap Care Fund, a peer-to-peer program among many other services to those living and dealing with breast cancer.

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer is a campaign within the American Cancer Society that organizes breast cancer awareness walks across the United States. The goal of every non-competitive race is to raise awareness and bring people together to better understand and find a cure for breast cancer.
