Time to play at HV Sportsdome
The Hudson Valley Sportsdome is a family-owned business that has been standing tall for the last 14 years. Located in Milton, the complex is best known for hosting indoor and outdoor soccer tournaments, including youth and adult leagues. That is not all they do, as Nicholas Pizza IV of the Pizza family explains that tournaments are just the beginning.
“I would say about 85–90 percent of the time here we are hosting some sort of sporting event,” he said. “But we have done so much more, including hosting dog shows, home improvement shows, and we are even the home to the Mount Saint Mary College track team.”
Regardless of the event, teams come in from all over the northeast to participate in a weekend of fun at the dome. Athletes flock from Massachusetts, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Maine. The Pizza family has even partnered with the Make-a-Wish Foundation to host an event that raised over $10,000.
Claire Pizza, Nick’s sister, said there is a few weeks left of their busy time of year. “It is always busiest in the winter months, and the bad weather this winter has given us a couple more weeks,” she said. “At our busiest time, we will usually need to book events one or two years in advance.”
While soccer is easily the most popular sport, the dome is also a venue for flag football, lacrosse, baseball, softball, field hockey and cross country tournaments.
The newest addition to the facility is the outdoor events venue, which consists of 10 acres of lawns available for festivals, craft fairs, car shows and concerts.
