Going Undercover Into the Automatized Public Bathroom Products
Well, there are many different types of bathroom products with an wide variety of automatic and manual. There could be a automatic/manual toilet flusher, automatic/manual toilet paper dispensers, automatic/manual sink, an automatic/manual soap dispenser, an automatic/manual paper towel dispenser or hand drier. These are the different types of products that we are going to observe to determine the most productive bathroom.
So let’s just kind of dive in and take a kind of general look at these products from the automatic and manual perspective. So first we have the automatic toilet also called the lavatory or loo. The automatic toilet is a very convenient in my personal opinion due to the fact that it lets you keep you from having to touch the toilet handle which is filled with germs that you really don’t want on your hands or even your shoes really. So by having an automatic toilet you have a more safer and less wasteful with water. Now on the other hand, they don’t always work and that creates a vile pile up which has to be later cleaned up which is not a job that really anyone would want to have, they also aren’t always precise on their timing which can also change the cleanliness because now the sediment is going to ferment until next use. In addition to the toilet you also have the automatic toilet paper dispenser which is also very beneficial. By having the toilet paper be dispensed automatically is reduced wastefulness because people won’t take a bunch and you can limit the amount each person takes to an extent. But on the other hand it also takes longer to have to have to wait for the dispenser to dispense you tp which really isn’t a problem for one person but when you have a line of 4–10 people it adds to wait that not everybody is quite prepared to wait.
Next we have the sink which also has its pros and cons for instance it is less wasteful because you can’t turn it on and let it all go down the sink, and you also can’t just leave the the water running and walk away. You also don’t ever have to touch the germ infested handles to the sink. Just let all that sink in. some of the negatives of the automatic sink is you can’t adjust the water to the correct temperature and they are also less energy efficient. But a study done by time magazine says that water samples from automatic sinks 50% of them have traces of legionella and other bacteria ware manual faucets have only 15%. We also have a automatic soap dispenser and some benefits are that with them being automatized is that you don’t have to touch the handle which can also be filled with germs and they attract attention to people so that they are more likely to use soap when washing their hands. 100% of the people that I interviewed said that they prefer an automatic soap dispenser verses a manual one. But on the negative side they use up energy and batteries which can add to cost and they also attract attention and that people use an excessive amount of soap which is wasteful. A hand dryer or the paper towel dispenser would be last, the automatic hand dryer will be first. On the plus side of the dryer being automatic you just don’t have to push the button which is covered in germs. But negatively a automatic hand drier doesn’t always work. but vs. a paper towel dispenser the air dryer has less waste, never runs out of paper and completely eliminates the unhygienic overflow of paper towels in the trash can . But according to Pro Dryers people still prefer paper towels, because they are less noisy, they do a much more thorough job at drying your hands, and people don’t just use paper towels to dry their hands they also have other purposes than just for drying their hands unlike the hand dryer. On the flip side the automatic paper towel dispenser is much easier to operate all you have to do is just wave your hand and get a paper towel compared to the many different types of manual paper towel dispensers where you have to crank, pump, push, or just pull to get your paper towel. Negatively though by having it be automatic it sometimes breaks and doesn’t work and that takes more to fix than just your everyday person you will most likely need a automatic paper towel technician to come and fix it.
Now that we have gone into detail about some of the benefits of the automatized bathroom products, let’s look at and try to find the best way to put together a bathroom while looking at people’s preference and most hygienic. First we are going to check on the personal preferences of the public.
My first interview is with Cody Holt. The first question I had for him was whether he liked to have a automatic toilet flusher or a manual one, he said he preferred the automatic so that way you “doesn’t have to do the whole foot thing”. But he also commented that the automatic ones have flushed before you were done with your business so he didn’t really like that. He mentioned that an improvement to this would be a weighted sensor in the seat that could feel when you get off of the seat to begin to flush to avoid this problem. Good idea cody. My next question for Mr. Holt is what his preference on the automatic sink? “Mr. holt do you prefer a automatic sink or a manual sink?” “the sink, definitely a manual, cuz the sinks turn on and off randomly when they are automatic.” he says. Which is a good point. Now I turn to ask Nathan Vereschagin and ask him to tell us his preferences with paper towel dispensers and air driers. “ Mr. Vereschagin do you like paper towels or air driers?” He said that he prefers paper towels because he said that it is less time consuming. I also asked him if he likes a automatic or manual paper towel dispenser. He said that he prefers the automatic, but only when the give you enough, you know when they only give you that much, *gestures with his fingers to describe a small amount”.
After looking at what the people think i’m going to look at what the research shows on whether or not by having automatic bathroom products is actually more sanitary. So in an manual if your parents taught you right you go and kick that little knob on the side and flush it. But is it actually less sanitary to have the automatic toilet? In my search of toilets sanitation I found out quite a bit from the site 8 Things People Do to Avoid Germs That Are Basically Pointless … for instance by hovering over the toilet seat isn’t actually helpful because when you flush a toilet you make the contents in the bowl airborne and you have a very slim chance that you can get sick from sitting on the germs and that by kicking the knob can be actually kind of harmful due to the fact that the germs will get on the bottom of your shoe and then you track them back to your home vs. actually touching it with your hand and then immediately washing it, although I would say that the safest way would be to drape some toilet paper and push the knob with that to avoid contact. So really with everything that was in the bowl becoming airborne after you flush I would say that really the automatic flusher can be slightly helpful but really it doesn’t do much to protect your health. Next is sinks and whether or not a manual or automatic is more sanitary. So what i found was that that 1 in 5 people don’t even wash their hands according to 5 Gross Hygiene Facts, but for the people who do wash their hands i found that the automatic sink is actually less safe compared to the manual one. Now let me tell you why, according to Time magazine (Hands-Free Faucets Spread More Germs Than Manual Taps | TIME.com ) the reason that the automatic sink is more hazardous is due to the pluming, because unlike the manual one its not just a hot and cold pipe, its a complex series of vavles, screans and filters that make for a perfect nesting ground for the bactiria to grow.
In conclusion I’ve looked at a lot of different kinds of bathrooms products both manual and automatic and i’ve found out some interesting information like personal preference sanitary and just some pros and cons of all that. I hope that you found all this informative, so now you know for the next time you go.
