On October 27th, 2023, Taylor Swift re-released not her second, not her third, but her fourth studio album, 1989. Along with re-recordings of all of the original title tracks, Swift released 5 brand new vault track songs that are taking over current music billboards. Although the album is doing really well, some of Taylor’s fanbase (aka Swifties) are complaining that some of the re-recordings don’t sound as good as the original recordings.

Obviously, the songs are going to sound a little different because Taylor has aged, developed, changed, among other factors. What’s different about this re-recording though is the amount of backlash she has gotten for some of these re-records. Usually, fans are thrilled and highly supportive of the re-release of Taylor’s albums, but fans all over the internet have been pointing out little differences in her songs that, simply put, just bug them.

These are just a couple of comments Swifties on Reddit have made. Fans have pointed out differences specifically in “Shake it Off,” “How You Get The Girl,” “Blank Space,” and “Style.” These four were the most talked about. Like we can see from the Reddit comments, fans mentioned the stylistic changes in “Blank Space,” and also some very aggressive comments towards Shake It Off’s so-called, “clicking noise?”

Do you hear anything different, or has the Taylor Swift fan base completely lost their mind? As a Swiftie myself, I can fully testify that the second statement is completely true. We have lost our minds.
