5 Worst Date Ideas in Buena Vista
The following is a list of 5 places/activities to avoid when taking out your campus crush, if someone takes you or tries to get you to do one of the following things… run!
- Parkway but only listen to Taylor swift
The Blue Ridge Parkway has the best views in Rockbridge County, and is super accessible. It has been home to some of the greatest dates. The problem with the parkway is when you let your date take the auxiliary cord, and they proceed to play nothing but Taylor Swift, ruining the entire vibe of the trip.
2. The Lofts’ corner “hang out”
We all know what’s going on here… stop it! Go on a hike behind the lofts, buy a $10 hammock at Walmart, and have a chat outside — not in the middle of everyone’s study place. The Lofts’ lobbies are the single worst place to hangout with a significant other.
3. The cafe
When I think of a romantic dinner the last thing I would think of is the cafe. The environment of the cafe ensures that you will have at least 35 people come up to talk to you, and the food is hit or miss. I have actually been on a date here… kinda. We went on a hike during finals week and wanted to use our remaining meals so we went. It was awful because this dude came and sat right next to the girl I asked out…never again.
4. “Hanging out” in Main Hall
Roaming around Main Hall seems like a great date idea. Honestly, it is, but the problem is that everyone else on campus believes the same thing. There are always people studying, playing night games, or just exploring, not ideal. My biggest issue with utilizing the main hall as a date site is that everyone has already done it, so it is nothing new for anyone.
5. Straws…
This is not a date. this is a great place to hang out, but it’s too loud and there are too many people present to really get to know each other. It’s basic, generic, and if you have gone on a date in BV, chances are it involved straws in some faction. Also, it’s just soda. There is no substance to consume, (brownies aren’t substance) and I have never been a big fan of soda.
From personal experience, these are places to avoid when taking out that special someone while here at SVU. There are plenty of sweet experiences and places close by — you just have to know where to go. Stay tuned for the next one. 👀
