Haunted Corn Maze

On October 27th, from 8:00 to 11:30, the Southern Virginia Student Association and Student Activities are running a free Haunted Corn Maze at Holland Farms, located in Lexington. Free shuttles will be leaving from the YSA Institute parking lot starting at 7:30pm. To volunteer as a ‘scarer’ in the maze, contact KJ Breen for details.

Lexington Ghost Tours

Inspired by the Jack the Ripper tour in London, Lexington Ghost Tours take you down streets, alleyways, and the Stonewall Jackson Memorial Cemetary while tour guides tell mysterious and unnerving ghost stories. Tours are available on only on Friday and Saturday with three tour hours at 6:30pm, 8:00pm, and 10:30pm. The week of Halloween is the exception, with tours running every day leading up to the holiday. For those ages 13 years and up, tickets are $15 per person. Scaremare at Liberty University

Liberty University will put on Scaremare on October the 11th–13th, the 18th-20th, and the 25th-27th. It will include a maze of rooms, re-enactments and recreations of spooky scenes. Featured attractions also include creepy clowns and werewolves. Tickets are $10 and cash only, but on Thursdays are $5 with a military and student discount. Pumpkin Glass-Blowing

From October 17-October 21, you can blow your own traditional glass or pumpkin ornament in Staunton at the Sunspots Studios Glassblowing. Visit the gift shop filled with jewelry and other artisan goods. Reservations are encouraged. It is $50-$55 per person. For more details, click here.

Dia de los Muertos

On October 27th and November 1st, a Dia de los Muertos celebration will be held in Washington D.C’.s Petworth neighborhood. There will be face painting, a live mariachi band and a procession to honor lost loved ones. For more information the many events that will take place those two days, click here.

Hocus Pocus Movie Night

There will be a Hocus Pocus movie night on October 26th from 7:00–11:00pm at Riverviews Artspace in Lynchburg. Before the show, a costume contest will be held, with prizes for winners of first, second and third place. Food and drinks available will also be available for purchase throughout the night. Red Vein Haunted House

Are you up for some intense scares? Red Vein Haunted House in Richmond is the place for you — with realistic sets, props and actors that are made especially for extreme thrills. It is based on the legend of Emily Redvyn, which you can read about on the Red Vein website. General admission is $20.

Fright Fest at Six Flags America

The Six Flags park in Baltimore and Washington D.C. hosts its Halloween event, Fright Fest on select nights until October 28th. Come back at night for eerily decorated rides, haunted houses, and ghosts and monsters running amuck. Costumes are encouraged.
