Bingo nights. Carnivals. Dances. If you are from SVU, fun school activities are no surprise to you. These activities happen because of our Student Government (SVSA) and Student life groups. This year, we have already enjoyed Black-light pickleball, a heated dodgeball tournament, a refreshing Soda Bar, a rocking dance, and a lively carnival. If you have enjoyed these events and want to know the people working behind the scenes to make them happen, keep reading to get the latest update from them!

“This year’s spirit week will be a blast! Come on out and unite in the spirit of being a knight.”

This is what Devin Barbee the Executive Secretary to the executive council said about spirit week. Spirit week is towards the end of October and is going to be an absolute knock your socks off week full of exciting events. When I talked to Mia Shirts, who is the communications Senator, about what I should update the students on, she made certain as well to tell me about spirit week. This is such a great week to go make memories with your friends as there is something for everyone. Looking for a relaxing night after school? Then take your friends, get some snacks and go watch an outdoor movie. Looking for an uproar? Come be a part of the crazy chalk fight! Spirit week truly has something for everyone.

The members of SVSA also want to encourage the student body to show support to other students by attending their strikingly exciting sports games. They also want to remind us to keep up with the Knight app and watch out for announcements about upcoming events.

Student life is just as ecstatic as SVSA and have many exciting events planned in the future. I talked with Francisco Ramirez about what he wants the student body to know to which he responded with,

“Come out and have fun. join the activities and meet different people; and hopefully we can become your second family!”

One of the events that student life has planned is a drive-in movie that will be happening in October and will be an absolute blast. They also are planning on doing what is called happy hour where you can come get waffles and hangout much like the soda bar they recently did. Happy Hour is happening in a couple weeks so make sure to stay posted to not miss out! Francisco made sure to also mention that they have planned a winter formal dance that is going to be amazing!

Wow! Our student representatives are awesome! If there is one thing that both Student Life and SVSA had in common was they want all students to feel welcome and want to get to know more of you.

When you see any one of these excellent students on campus don’t be afraid to say hi!
