Junior Knights is a babysitting opportunity for students, club president Sierra Piekarski told me,

“I started Junior Knights with some other moms on campus to help support the young families on campus, we do kids activities, play dates, for Halloween we had a trick or treat on campus last year.”

All are welcome to join. They meet in room 222 Tuesdays 3:00–4:00pm. It is a great opportunity to serve the community in Southern Virginia.

JustServe Club

When asked about the JustServe club, club president Nick Daynes had this to say:

“We are a club connecting service-minded people on campus. We have a GroupMe chat in which people can post service opportunities, and the more, the merrier!”

The SVU MTG Club is a welcoming community dedicated to connection and wholesome recreation through Magic: The Gathering. As one of the most popular card games of the last 30 years, MTG is a fantastic creative outlet for those looking for cerebral strategy, fantasy gameplay, or both. New players welcome, because it’s not Magic: the solo — it’s Magic: The Gathering. They meet Wednesdays 7:00–9:00, Room 222 of Main Hall.

Pickleball Club

Wednesday nights in Stoddard this club gives all students an opportunity to play pickleball each week.

Pre-Health Professionals Association

This club collaborates with students aspiring to enter diverse healthcare fields. They focus on helping students prepare for graduate programs related to healthcare through activities such as test preparation, hosting a variety guest speakers, and visiting medical and dental school open houses. In years past they have actively participated in Remote Area Medical Clinics, helping to provide free medical services to underserved community members.

Pride Club

Kinsley Rapier, co-president of Pride Club, describes it as, saying

“Pride Club strives to create a safe space for all LGBTQ+ students on campus. Our goal is to be visible so no one feels like they are alone on their journey. Additionally, we want to show that it is okay to be a member of the LGBTQ+ community and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.”

The biggest event for this club is Rainbow Week. That is put on by the club every October and builds up to the parade with Lexington Pride. Most of the club’s activities are put on by the organizations that are partnered with W&L’s Queer Liberation Alliance and Project Horizon. They meet Sundays at 6:00 pm in Main 205. Look out for emails from club leadership with specific dates or DM the Instagram @prideclubsvu where event and meeting information is always posted.

“Everyone is welcome to join Pride Club. Religious or not, we happily accept all LGBTQ+ members and Allies. As long as someone is respectful and kind to the other members of our club, we are excited to have them join us!”

Shenanigans

Kaia Hoyt, the current head of the Improv Club stated,

“We get into fun games and exercises to help people and actors alike come out of their shells a little and learn to make big decisions on stage. We also learn vocal and physical warm-ups, which is helpful for people to do before public speaking roles and interviews! It’s essentially an hour of fun with learning sneakily added into the mix!”

Improv Club meets at 5:pm on Thursdays, in the hilltop classroom beneath the stage.

Swing Dance Club

Friday nights at 7:00 this club takes everyone with no experience required and teaches the super fun dance form of country swing which incorporates lifts, jumps and steps that always keep those participating on their toes.
