Last week was an exciting and historical week for our campus! We were blessed to have general authority and apostle Quinton L. Cook visit the Buena Vista Virginia Stake and speak to many members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in a special meeting on November 11. Elder Cook is a member of the Quorum of The Twelve Apostles, the leading organization of the Latter-day Saints religion. The visit of Elder Cook was a very special, and rare, opportunity to be allowed to listen to him speak in person!

To recap his talk, Elder Cook focused on the 11 prophets that have been alive during his lifetime. He shared stories and experiences that he had with these prophets — A few of which he has had the chance to serve under. Elder Cook even shared a special story of working alongside current prophet President Russel M. Nelson where President Nelson jokingly said Elder Cook’s wife cheats when she gives a talk because she sings during them, making her a congregation favorite.

To conclude Elder Cook’s address, he shared his special witness. In these concluding thoughts, he bore his testimony of his knowledge of Jesus Christ and that he is The Savior. He bore witness that The Savior speaks and that he knew his voice. Finally, he reminded us all that The Savior lives– we are not alone.
