Looking for something to watch this October? Don’t Watch a Halloween movie.

Horror movies. I am not a fan of horror movies. I have never seen one that I truly enjoyed. They always seem to just leave me with a pit in my stomach and regret wasting the last two hours. In my experience most horror movies focus more on the killings than the story. There appears to be mystery not for the sake of solving it but for the sake of creeping people out.

Most Halloween movies are cheesy. They try to come off as cute or creepy and they miss the mark completely. Hocus Pocus, probably the worst holiday movie of all time. The plot set has so much potential but the three witches ruin the entire movie. The back and forth between the sisters is super annoying and not funny, and the song they sing is trash. If you like the three witches there is something wrong with you.

Jack Skeleton and Sally (IMDb)

The Nightmare Before Christmas — I know I am going to get a ton of backlash for this comment but the movie is mid: it’s not bad but it’s not good. The plot is weird, and most of the characters are trying to be creepy but they are more cringe.

Charlie and the gang Trick-or-treating (IMDb)

It’s The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown is the lone exception. (For those of you that are thinking Scooby Doo, it is not a Halloween movie). Charlie Brown movies in general are heartfelt and sweet, and this one is no exception. It also includes my favorite side story in a Charlie Brown movie with Snoopy in dog fights with the Red Barrón.

If you are looking for something to watch this Halloween, the best movie to watch on or near Halloween is something related to your costume.
