Several teams at Southern Virginia have just begun their seasons, while many others have their season finales coming soon. Men’s volleyball has started their season 3–1 after an opening three-game win streak including a win over another nationally ranked team, Elms University. Their only loss thus far this season was to#5 ranked Stevenson University. February 8th they will travel to Immaculata University in hopes of adding to their winning season so far.

After a prolific 15-game winning streak, where they also knocked off #25 ranked Christopher Newport, the women’s basketball team skidded into back-to-back losses against Penn-State, Harrisburg, and Frostburg. However, on their senior night, the Knights delivered a 76–54 win over York. The team now sits at 17–3 overall and 8–2 in conference play.

The men’s wrestling team lost to Ferrum at home, 41–12. Seniors, including Alexander Brunner, Jayson Cody, and Gordan Whitaker, were honored at that game. The wrestling team then traveled to Allen University and dominated in a 36–12 overall win. This duals win is the sixth of the season, the most in the program’s history. That win ended the regular season for the wrestling team and they will now head into the post-season.

Several other sports teams have begun official practices, including men’s and women’s tennis, softball and baseball. All of these seasons will have their season opener within the month.
