Students recently took advantage of the opportunity to attend a paint night. The event was put on by the Southern Virginia Student Life. With 130 people filling the Stoddard Center, the gym was teeming with students getting in line to grab the paints they needed as they were handed raffle tickets. As everybody settled down at their respective tables, a Bob Ross painting tutorial was played on the projector screen. Professor Jeff Batis, dressed as Bob Ross for the night, led the student body in the tutorial. Some of the students would follow the tutorial while others would paint something of their own.

All in all, everybody ended the night with a painting to take home. Landon Ruder (’27, Family and Human Development) felt like he was well taken care of and had fun. “I feel like I had all the supplies I needed…it was cool to create something to take home.”

Southern Virginia Student Life does activities like these every other week. Kamryn Bradshaw (’21, Music) said it was the “best student life activity [she’d] ever been to.” You might want to make sure you don’t miss the next Student Life event and all the fun!
