Recap: Southern Virginia’s Softball and Baseball Season

Southern Virginia University softball and baseball both recently concluded their regular season. In this article will feature a recap of both of their last home games.

Baseball began their last series against William Peace University, playing a double header on Saturday April 29. Southern Virginia led the series with the first game ending 7–6 in their favor. However, the Pacers came back in the second game, overtaking the Knights with a loss of 4–5. As all collegiate baseball games are a series of three games, the final game against the Pacers was played on that following Monday, May 1. Despite their best efforts, the baseball team concluded their season with a 3–14 loss. Although they ended on a loss, the baseball team finished their season with the most wins since 2019 (13–24 record).

Southern Virginia softball has played an impressive 38 games this season, finishing with a record of 20–18. The Knights finished their regular season with a double header against Mary Baldwin University on Saturday, April 29 at home. Mary Baldwin took the first game, giving Southern Virginia a 2–5 loss. However, the Knights came back to split the series with a 5–3 win against Mary Baldwin University in the second game. By winning their last game, the team successfully completed their first winning season in program history. With that, the Lady Knights advanced to the USA South Conference Tournament, which was held on May 4 at Pfeiffer University in Misenheimer, North Carolina.

Despite the outcome of the USA South Conference tournament, the team continues to celebrate their many successes of the season.
