Ladies and gentlemen, take your mark! The annual Chessie Trail run is just around the corner with an event for everyone who would like to participate. Ranging from a full marathon, to a 5k, and even a virtual running experience, there is something for every skill level. People who desire to walk are also allowed to participate in each race, so everyone is welcome. Each participant also receives a race t-shirt as well as stickers and a custom race medal. Awards are then presented on top of that to the top finishers. Awards are given in categories of gender and age, providing equal opportunity to each entry.

Situated along the Maury River, runners will be able to take in the stunning views of the water and the wildlife surrounding it. Adelaide Westenhaver (‘27), having run the trail before, remarks on the stunning views around every turn as you follow the trail, providing you with plentiful picture opportunities as well as close- up encounters with the cows that call the Maury their home. Those wishing to participate must sign up before November 3, 2023, as the race takes place the following day.

As if the stunning views and feeling of accomplishment aren’t enough, this race is sanctioned by USA Track and Field (USATF) and each course is certified. The Chessie Trail Marathon is a Boston Marathon qualifying event as well. Whether you run as a casual hobby, or are a well- accomplished and specifically trained marathon runner, the Chessie Trail Race offers entertainment and opportunities alike. Show up on November 4, 2023, whether to run, walk, or support.
