Southern Virginia University Announces New Food Partnership

Attention SVU Students:
We have been informed that a major update will be added into the SVU Dining Hall that will involve a construction type remodel that will start May 20th this summer term.
Southern Virginia University will be adding dining sections for the following: Cafe Rio, Chick-il-A, and Panda Express. These dining options will be limited to certain items on the food menu as there is limited space for the new sections in our dining hall. Students will not be required to pay out-of-pocket for these dining options as it will be implemented into the new meal plan starting Fall 2024. . . which is a big deal for the student body who will have the SVU meal plan. We’ve also received word that Chick-fil-A will be adding an all new “Knight” sandwich to their menu here at the university that will feature the SVU logo imprinted on the top part of the bun in efforts to improve school spirit.
Another remodel will also take place starting July 1st. A SWIG stand will be added into the Hilltop Market just across from the dining hall. The school has confirmed that students may use dining dollars at the SWIG section, just as they would in the sub shop or Hilltop Market. SWIG has promised that they will be adding caffeine-free options of all of their drinks they will offer.
Due to this addition, the Hilltop Market will be closing June 20th in preparation for the change. These additions will be a major change to the university with hopes that more students will choose to live on campus as we will be getting more dining options. SVU front offices has also asked that we all spread the news to build excitement for the Fall 2024 term.
Students that will be staying at the school for the summer term will be permitted to use a small section of the dining hall while these changes are made. Note that this will limit food options for a limited time. The SVU front office has asked that we be understanding as the building will start to close down closer to the start of the remodel date (May 20th).
