Student Review: S’mores Sayonara
By Tommi Batty
On Thursday, Nov. 18, students gathered on the quad to have a fun evening send-off before leaving to go home for the Thanksgiving break. Students at Southern Virginia University were able to enjoy time with friends by the warm fire playing games and eating s’mores and candy, while drinking apple cider or hot cocoa and taking in the Christmas lights and good music.
Personally, my experience was quite a good one. On arrival I got a roasting stick, threw a few marshmallows on, and got to roasting. I made a s’more with a Reese’s peanut butter cup and got a warm cup of apple cider. The weather was mildly windy, but calmed down from what it had previously been earlier in the day. The temperature was great out and everyone enjoyed the event without being too cold. I was able to make my signature roasting concoction: roasted pink and yellow starbursts melted together to form the most delicious flavor.
The highlight of my evening was roasting starbursts (my favorite) over the campfire and spending time with my close friends before we all went our separate ways for the break. Special thanks to SVSA and Kai Barton (25’), Freshman Class Vice President, for planning the event.
