On March 1, Disney+ dropped the first episode of “The Mandalorian’s” third season. “The Mandalorian” is a huge fan favorite and is loved by not only Star Wars fans, but everyone else as well. Even though some of the biggest die-hard fans of Star Wars have given “The Mandalorian” mixed criticism over the past few years since its debut in 2019, nobody can argue that Grogu (or baby Yoda) is the true star of the show. Most fans are very curious to see what he will become in later seasons. The hope is to see him rise to the position of Jedi in some future moment, but that’s unlikely in this third season.

Season three starts with a review of season one and shows the Mandalorian and Grogu returning to the clan of Mandolorians. However, since the Mandalorian was expelled for taking his helmet off, he must perform a task to earn his place back in the order. The task is said to be impossible, but after recruiting help from past seasons, he attempts it nonetheless. If you watched the first couple seasons and are semi-familiar with the Clone Wars, you’ll recognize who comes to help him out. This first episode is mainly a pilot episode, setting the stage for the rest of the season to follow suit and getting all the details out in the open.

What does this episode have? Really good computer-generated images (CGI) and intriguing details about the inner dealings of the Order of Mandalorians. It shows an inaugural ceremony of a young Mandolorian coming of age and receiving his first helmet, which is never to be removed (and is a form of identity from thence forth). This new episode also brings back some fan favorite characters as well. If you’re a big fan of Star Wars, this episode is definitely worth watching as soon as possible. If you don’t care for Star Wars, I would wait for more episodes to come out to get a better experience. As the season progresses, I expect huge events pertaining to the Mandalorian’s home planet, which was rumored to be destroyed in a purge.
