DISCLAIMER: If you are a professor, I highly recommend you skip this article. It is not meant for you. To save our relationship as teacher and student, trust me, it is for the best.

Now that they’re gone, I propose a question for you, the students. Have you ever been in class, and the teacher is just going on and on about some random point in history and that energy drink you had earlier that morning hasn’t quite hit yet? Do you so badly wish that you could be literally anywhere else? Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the wonderful world of iPad games. I collected data from my own personal and fellow students’ opinions to determine the top 5 games to play on your iPad during class.

Now, before I start, it’s important to remember that these are not the best games for your iPad in general. These recommendations are specifically for in-class purposes. So, without further ado, I would like to announce our fifth best in-class game: Papa’s Pizzeria.

5. Papa’s Pizzeria

If you didn’t grow up stealing your mom’s computer and immediately opening this app, did you even have a childhood? If you want the feeling of chaos and the rush of working in a pizza shop without actually working at a pizza shop, this is the game for you. If this article was just about the best iPad games, this would be much higher on the scale. Since this is specifically about games to play in class, Papa’s Pizzeria takes last for a few different reasons. Number one being this is not a multitask game. You have to be on top of your game, or you are disappointing a lot of customers. Another con to this game is it is not free on the App Store. Although you can look it up on Safari, it’s not good as having the mobile app because it’s harder to save your progress and those pesky ads are a constant bugger. Overall, this app is only to be used if there is absolutely NOTHING to do during your class.

4. Among Us

Simply put: The 2020 era of Among Us was at its peak. This game absolutely took over the mobile game industry during 2020. Everyone and their mom was talking about this game. So you might be wondering what happened to this absolute mobile masterpiece? The chat box was #canceled. No one could even communicate with the other crewmates, therefore the imposters dominated the majority of the time. Luckily, Innersloth heard our desperate cries and respawned the chat box and gave us the Among Us we all know and love. I believe this game can be hard to manage but not impossible to play during class. You can take breaks during voting, and if you’re just a crew mate you can complete your tasks but it isn’t necessary to catch the imposter. Overall, Among Us requires some concentration but it’s not impossible to multitask while playing this game.

3. Baseball 9

I’m going to be straight up about this one: I’m a recent convert to the Baseball 9 fan base. This was a very popular community voted game. I personally had not even heard of it until I asked fellow students their favorite iPad games. I don’t really know all the tips and tricks, but, after trying it out myself, I can testify this is a fun game. It’s a very chill game that follows the basic outline of your average baseball game. It’s fairly easy to multitask while playing this game, and there’s not a whole lot of concentration needed like some of our previously mentioned games.

2. Fruit Ninja

Coming in hot at number 2 is the classic game we all had on our tablets growing up: Fruit Ninja. This game is a perfect way to kill time during class. It’s a very simple set up but contains different modes and color schemes that won’t absolutely bore you to death. The only con of this game is it can become distracting to other students when you’re fighting for your life trying to slice that giant pomegranate multiple times and as quickly as you can. Other than that, this is a fun and entertaining game for class.

1. Happy Color

After careful calculations, I came to the very scientific conclusion that Happy Color is the best game to play on your iPad during class. This is just a simple online coloring book, and I have found it a very good resource that allows me to listen in class but take a break from my note taking. Overall, it’s a good way to kill time but very easy to pause your progress and go back to your notes if needed.
