Undeniable Evidence That Ghosts Are Real And Live Here: Part 1
Organized by Will Dryden
Southern Virginia University is an old place, and we all know there’s two things that happen when things get old, weird noises and ghosts. We reached out to students, staff, and alumni to get the scariest tales of our school’s history. If you know any scarier stories, reach out to us and your story might be published next time!
NO TIME OFF
“When I would leave work last fall after closing, I would constantly see a man standing in the kitchen. I would look back and he wasn’t there…a few weeks passed and I found out a member of the kitchen staff passed away at the same spot.”

SPOOKSICALLY INCLINED
“Shared on behalf of my friend Kati, alumni ‘05:
She lived on the fourth floor in Main Hall. It wasn’t uncommon to leave a window open when the weather was nice. “I had a girl tell me my window was open and it was really windy, because my windchimes had been loud all day. But my windchimes hung across the room on a wall, and the window had been closed.””

POT-TERGEISTS?
“My classroom is the pottery studio, a brick building behind the Tucson House. It is fairly common knowledge that the Tucson House is haunted. I accepted this long ago. It has only manifested to me in the form of ‘feelings’— feeling like someone else is there when nobody is. There seems to be a presence, but it has never felt nefarious or aggressive or sinister to me. I haven’t seen objects move, or heard unaccounted-for noises, or seen shadows. But when I work in the studio at night, sitting at my desk with my back turned to the door that leads to the House, I always close the door. That seems to quell the feelings. But I am rather jumpy in there at night!”
