Veterans Day: Recognizing Campus Community Members Who Served
By Katie Larsen
During a proclamation given in 1954 when Nov. 11 was officially declared Veterans Day, President Eisenhower said,
“On that day, let us solemnly remember the sacrifices of all those who fought so valiantly, on the seas, in the air, and on foreign shores, to preserve our heritage of freedom, and let us reconsecrate ourselves to the task of promoting and enduring peace so that their efforts shall not have been in vain.”
Today we want to recognize those from Southern Virginia University’s campus community who have served our country.
Joe Bouchelle — Served in the United States Army for four years; attained the rank of Captain 1982–1986.
