Buttons and Blocks

This week our first graders were all about counting and number bonds! They split them, they combined them, they studied part-part-whole relationships — and do you know why? Because, number bonds are an essential component of the Singapore method of teaching math. They instil number sense in learners and form the basis for number operations.

Our young learners cemented their understanding of this important concept using both concrete objects like blocks and buttons as well as pictorial representations in their workbooks. We feel so lucky to be sharing a world-class math program with our students!
