Can you hear that?

Sight, hearing, taste, smell and touch are the 5 fantastic senses that our preschoolers have been exploring! To help the children begin understanding and thinking about how we use our senses, we engaged in many fun and hands on activities this week.

We started with the sense of hearing and listened carefully to the various sounds around us. The children made their special listening head bands and were thrilled to go out on a listening walk. We asked the children what they could hear. Some of the sounds our curious listeners heard were that of a van, a ball, running water, bells, cats, and even a mummy and baby birdie out for a walk! One creative listener heard the sound of ‘flowers’ and we thought that was a beautiful thought :)

Our homework for parents this week is to have their children listen to different environmental sounds and record these so we can share them in school. Happy Listening!
