Little Medical School is conducting a 6 session workshop with our first graders. These workshops are meant to supplement the information being provided to the students for their current Unit of Inquiry as they learn about the different body systems. This week the students learned about the heart as they donned their doctor’s coats and checked each others heart rate, checked for any signs of wheezing using a stethoscope and also learned about how our hearts work tirelessly every day pumping blood through our body.

The students also learned about the lungs by passing a ball through different parts of the respiratory system, to show the flow of air through our body. They had fun testing out who had the strongest lungs in the class by blowing into a balloon for 10 seconds.

The children are really enjoying the workshops as they explore the different tools used in medicine and learn about how things happen inside the body. We’re loving our sessions with Little Medical School!
