As part of our ‘Read On’ initiative, we are starting a series of book reviews, where our in-house literacy specialist will be reviewing high quality children’s literature hand-picked from the Children’s Library at Ivy. These titles are specially curated for different age groups and many are mainstays of our school curriculum. At Ivy, we believe it is important to expose young minds to award-winning children’s literature so that we can ignite a lifelong love of reading in our students and provide them with new perspectives, creative outlets and a wealth of ideas. In addition, our reviews are designed to help parents choose developmentally appropriate literature for their children, and keep up with the newest trends in illustrated literature. Please keep in mind that many of the titles evaluated are not available in Pakistan, but come highly recommended by us and would be valuable additions to your order list when you travel. Books will be evaluated on their fundamental concept, artistic technique, use of language, clarity and depth of plot, audience appropriateness, and “page-turning” dynamic. Please feel free to write in with your questions and comments at info@ivy.org.pk.
