Our preschoolers are busy exploring different areas of their classroom and making new discoveries everyday. This was a moment where we captured little E pretending to use the till in the kitchen corner as a phone, dialling numbers, saying hello to family members and signing of on happy note “have fun!” His lively conversation attracted his peers where they all joined in the play and took turns to call mums and dads too.

Pretend play helps children develop social skills, take turns and share. It also helps them to express their feelings through re-enactment of real life experiences. Since we follow a child-centered approach to learning, we will keep the children’s interest in mind and will be making ‘telephones’ using paper cups and strings during our next STEM lesson. Isn’t it fun to to join in with imaginative play and build confidence by letting them lead the play? Tell us what you think. We would love to hear all about it!
