The Joy Booking System

Beauty industry is a sphere that is not very advanced in terms of booking applications. Most salons still use paper schedules or diaries to write down appointments. Though there are several beauty apps for booking services, they still have some major flaws which The Joy is willing to fix. They do not take advantage of having many salons on their platform and do not provide a marketplace for customers.

Among the booking platforms with marketplace functionality the most popular are Treatwell and Booksy. However, none of the platforms provides practitioners’ portfolios. They also don’t provide an ability to add a certain practitioner to ”favourites”, though many customers often prefer a particular beautician they already know.

Secondly, both platforms don’t have any bonus programs that motivate customers to order services more often.

Moreover, these apps don’t have any language options apart from the main one. For instance, it will be difficult for an English-speaking person to order a service through Treatwell in Berlin, since the entire interface is in German and one cannot change it to English.

The monetization model in these apps is not aimed at retaining the client for the particular salon, it’s only aimed at keeping the client on their platform. For example, Treatwell has a subscription fee (15 € / 29 € / 49 € depending on the functionality) for the salons and takes 35% transaction fee for the first order in the salon and 2% from all subsequent orders of this client. Thus, Treatwell is interested in motivating the client to make every new order on the platform in another salon, which is contrary to the desire of the salon to retain the client.

Booksy platform does not take transaction fee from each order and works exclusively on a subscription model, the cost of which depends on the quantity of platform users from the salon side. Such a model also causes great doubts, since it does not motivate Booksy to invest in marketing aimed at customers, but only to attract new salons.

As for The Joy, it is oriented not only towards the salon owners, but also the customers. The Joy wants to revolutionize and digitalize this market by introducing its innovative booking platform.

Salons will be provided with a booking system based on The Joy platform and receive orders from The Joy directly. Staff will also be able to book appointments themselves. A digital schedule on The Joy platform is user-friendly, easy to use and it always looks neat. On top of that, salon owners will have an opportunity to cover the possible idle time by providing their employees with on-demand orders apart from bookings inside salons.

Clients will be able to invite a professional home or to any other place, even at the office. They will be able to select a specialist, view his/her profile, specialization and rating, as well as examples of work performed, both during on-demand orders or at the salon. The blockchain-powered review system will ensure all the reviews are genuine. Moreover, the innovative bonus program will allow clients to receive Joycoins for ordering services and endorsing the platform.

Here’s how The Joy booking system will work.

To make an appointment in the salon, the client will need to find a salon by its name or location. If a client wants a certain treatment, one can search for a salon that has this treatment as well.

Then the client sees the list of salons which he/she can sort out by filters, including the desired time, and view brief information about each salon.

After clicking on the salon of choice the client sees the complete profile, including photos, a brief description, a work schedule, a list of services provided. Then the client picks the treatments he/she wants to get and adds them to the app shopping cart.

After adding services to the shopping cart, the user can choose the date and time of the reservation, as well as a particular practitioner who could serve the customer. The latter is optional, for clients who are familiar with certain practitioners.

The client will be able to pay for the service both in a traditional way with fiat currencies (credit, debit cards, and also popular electronic wallets) and the Joy’s internal currency, the Joycoins. After the order, the client can rate the salon, add it to his/her favorites and participate in the bounty program to get bonus tokens for activity on the platform.

There are also options for group bookings, discount programs for families and students, as well as profitable offers for corporate clients, which allow having a flexible pricing policy.

The Joy has created a platform that will help salons with managing and is user-friendly for the customers. It is an app where one can order a variety of services to any location.
