Patrick O’Hara shares his views on sustainability and discusses issues in relation to including it into the work of an architect.
Patrick O’Hara is a fully qualified Chartered Architectural Technologist, Chartered Building Engineer and Registered Building Surveyor with over 20 years of experience. Born in Kilkenny, Ireland, Patrick now lives in County Cork.
His passion for architecture came from his teenage years: “I liked woodwork; construction studies and technical drawing. There were 2 houses built in my town Kilkenny. I was going nearby and the doors were open and I saw 7 blue prints, the drawings were on the ground and I remember just looking at them thinking: Wow, someone has drawn this and now it is built. It’s as simple as that, it really made up my mind what I wanted to do” — says Patrick.
He has completed numerous projects from concept to site completion. His experience in a wide variety of projects including residential and commercial buildings, schools, banks, medical, hospitality. The projects he worked on are ranging from small domestic extensions to a €35 million education campus.
Patrick O’Hara is not just an experienced architect, he is also a happy father of 2 boys, aged 7 and 11. Having passion for the children’s psychology and studying it along many years helped him in his main interests — volunteering. Patrick has volunteered with sick children over the past 15 years.
Being in love with travelling, he explored many countries including Australia, where he worked in younger ages.
