Falcon’s Fury, the newest thrill ride at Busch Gardens, is getting closer to completion. The 335 foot drop tower will be the first of its kind to take guests to the top of the tower and then drop them face first towards the ground at 60 miles per hour.

“It’ll be the closest thing to skydiving at Busch Gardens”, said Jeff Hornick, Busch Gardens’ Director of Design and Engineering, during the construction tour on Wednesday.

The ride starts out with the seats in an upright position and rotate 90 degrees before the plummet. Riders will experience up to 3.5Gs during their 5 to 6 second drop during the two minute experience.

Falcon’s Fury isn’t the only change coming to Busch Gardens. The surrounding area previously themed as Timbuktu is getting a new look as the fantasy world of Pantopia. Mark Rose, VP of Design & Engineering, said “Pantopia is kind of a generic name that says fantasy and excitement but doesn’t root you in a single place in the world.”

Based on traveler’s from around the world, Pantopia’s culture is centered around art and storytelling. Brian Morrow, Creative Director, described the theme behind the new area, “Pantopia is really the place where people can travel from around the world and come back with stories of amazing lands and amazing animals from all over the place and share them with each other.”
