1:1 Video Chat and Blind Date Help Users Maintain Safe Social Distance

In the current climate, maintaining relationships, meeting people, and making connections is difficult. Given the government-issued social distancing orders in place across the country and around the world, we need to connect in a different way than meeting in person. The Meet Group will soon be rolling out 1:1 video chat and Blind Date to its Tagged mobile app, which means that having some one-on-one time with a friend, or someone special, is possible without risking your health and the well-being of others.

Tagged, the largest African-American dating app, will soon be offering two new features that will help millions of people find support, connection, and love in these uncertain times. Blind Date, a digital twist on the traditional social engagement, allows users to meet and date livestreamers through a timed video chat that is based on personality rather than looks. Throughout the game, the host is only able to hear the contestant, not see them, and when time runs out, or the host taps the “date” option, the contestant is revealed. The feature will soon be released as a new option to The Meet Group’s popular dating game, NextDate.

1:1 video chat will also be available as an alternative to meeting in person, and during the pandemic, that might just be what the doctor ordered. Making and maintaining connections is important to mental health, and while The Meet Group urges its users to stay safe and to remain socially distant, it is also hoping that through 1:1 video chat, its Tagged users will still be able to find love and connection from the comfort of their own homes.

Since the start of the pandemic, The Meet Group has seen an increase in people using video by 34%, and the number of video chats increased by 39%. More than 95,000 NextDate dating games are played every day on its apps.

Blind Date and 1:1 Video will be rolling out to Tagged users over the coming weeks. Look for an official announcement on the Tagged social media channels and on the Tagged app.
