Who are we

Cinyee Chiu and Ricardo Nunez Suarez are just married freelance illustrators coming from different countries: the wife comes from Taiwan, and the husband comes from Colombia. This opens their possibilities about where to settle down. They want to see the world before deciding where they are going to live for the rest of their lives, and doing freelancing allows them to work while moving.

The win-win-win project

Traveling around the world is gonna be a fabulous experience, and it’ll be a shame if they don’t do something else with such a precious opportunity. Because the little development in the illustration field of their countries, they came up with the idea of The Migratory:

Travel and interview local illustrators.

There are two types of ideal interviewee: one as emerging illustrators as them, not yet widely recognized but have amazing artworks; one as experienced illustrators who have insights of the field to share. They hope by sharing the experiences of all the illustrators, people who are new to the field can get some inspirations, illustrators get interviewed can reach new audience. And for Cinyee and Ricardo, they will be the ones who learn the most from the whole process.

What you can expect

The migratory will be shown in three formats: video, article and painted paper mache bird. For the videos and articles, it will be presented in three languages: English, Spanish, and Chinese (yes, this couple has a great advantage on language.) They will also make paper mache birds and invite illustrators to paint on it. These painted birds will be collected as the migratory birds, and hopefully keep traveling the world even when Cinyee and Ricardo’s journey stops.

Before introducing you other illustrators, Cinyee and Ricardo want to say hello first!
