Sony Honda Mobility was a part of CES 2023 held on Thursday, January 5. The day prior to the event, Sony announced a new brand, “AFEELA”, unveiling a prototype that shows how people and mobility can be connected.
At CES 2020, Sony made a splash when it unveiled its first concept car. Three years later, Sony has collaborated with Honda to manufacture the car under the brand name Afeela. It can now be preordered in the US for delivery in the spring of 2026.
This car showcases 45 sensors, a digital display on its front bumper, as well as Lidar for autonomous driving and 3D graphics generated using the Unreal Engine from Fortnite developer Epic Games. Furthermore, the first Afeela car will utilise Qualcomm’s cutting-edge Snapdragon Digital Chassis.
Sony and Honda’s collaborative mobility enterprise presented a prototype EV called Afeela. This brand will feature on the joint venture’s initial manufactured electric vehicle, slated to be available in North America in 2026.
Honda is unveiling its EV portfolio with the Prologue, a long-range vehicle created in partnership with General Motors. The car is predicted to be available for purchase in 2024 and is the first of 30 electrified vehicles Honda sees being released by 2030. Utilising GM’s Ultium platform, the Prologue will make its debut alongside an Acura model based off the 2020 Precision concept.
